  PATHOLOGY
          It is derived from two greek words patho and logos. Pathos mean suffering and logos means study.
          Thus, pathology is the scientific study of structure and function of the body in disease.
Types of pathology:-
General pathology, systemic pathology
1. General pathology :-
          It deal with the general principle of the disease.
ex- fever, body ache
2. Systemic pathology:-
          It deal with the study of disease pertaining to specific body organ system.
ex- hypertension, etc.
Subdivision of pathology:-
1. Histopathology :-
          It's study includes structural changes observed by naked eye refer as macroscopic changes and the changes detected by light and electron microscope is referred as microscopic changes.
Note: cell is the structural and functional unit of life.
                   Cell---tissue---organ---system
histopathology includes following three subdivision-
(i) Surgical pathology :-
          It deals with the study of tissue removed from the living body.
(ii) Forensic pathology and Autopsy :-
          It includes the study of organ and tissue removed and postmortem for medico legal work and for determining the underlying sequence and cause of disease.
(iii) Cyto pathology :-
          It includes study of cells shed off from the lesion and FNAC (Fine needle aspiration cytology) of superficial and deep seated lesion for diagnosis.
2. HAEMATOLOGY :-
          It deals with the study of disease of BLOOD.
3. CHEMICAL PATHOLOGY :-
          It includes analysis of biochemical constituents of blood, urine, CSF (ceredro spinal fluid) and other body fluid.
